- We ask for one thing: your email address, and only if you choose to give it.
- We use it to send you the free pages and to tell you when a book or a story lands.
- We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers. Not ever.
- You can leave at any time, from the link at the bottom of every email, and we will delete you.
- This site is for grown-ups. We do not knowingly collect anything from children.
The rest of this page is the same thing said properly.
Who we are
Samy & Bela is a children’s book and media brand published by Moulding Minds Media, registered in Fiji. This website is samyandbela.com.

What we collect
Only what you give us, plus the ordinary technical records any website keeps.
Your email address
Only when you type it into the signup form. It is the one thing we ask for, and the only thing we need.
Your first name
Only if we ever add that field and you choose to fill it in. It is optional and we will not chase you for it.
Anything you write to us
If you reply to an email or use the contact address, we keep that message so we can answer you properly.
Basic technical records
Our hosting keeps normal server logs: rough location, browser type, pages visited, the date and time. This is how any website runs and how we spot problems. It is not tied to your name.
We do not ask for your address, your phone number, your date of birth, or anything about your children. We have no reason to, so we do not.
What we do with it
- Send you the free colouring pages and printables you signed up for.
- Tell you when a new book, a read-aloud, or a festival page lands.
- Let you know when the hardcover editions arrive in Fiji and where to buy them.
- Answer you when you write to us.
That is the whole list. If we ever want to use your email for something not on this list, we will ask you first.
What we never do
- We never sell your information, and we never rent or trade it.
- We never pass your email to advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not run advertising trackers or pixels on this site.
- We do not add you to the list because you bought a book somewhere. You are only on it if you put yourself on it.
Children
This is a brand for children, but this website is written for the grown-ups who read to them.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or a grown-up at home to sign up instead of doing it yourself.
If you are a parent and you think your child has given us their email address, write to bula@samyandbela.com and we will delete it. You do not need to explain yourself and we will not ask you to.
Who else touches your information
A small number of services help us run this, and they only get what they need to do their job.
Internal Database
Stores the mailing list and sends the emails. Your email address lives here.
Our website host
Runs the site and keeps the ordinary server logs described above.
Internal CRM
Our content system, which stores the book information and cover images shown on the site. It does not hold your email address.
Some of these services keep data on servers outside Fiji, including in Australia and the United States. That is normal for internet services and it is worth you knowing.
Buying the books
At the moment our books are sold through Amazon, and later they will be in shops in Fiji. When you buy from Amazon, you are buying from Amazon. They collect your details under their own privacy policy, not this one, and they do not tell us who you are.
We do not see your card details at any point, and we do not store them anywhere.
If we open our own shop on this site later, we will update this page before a single payment is taken, and we will say exactly who processes it.
Cookies
Right now this site does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. There is nothing following you around.
If that changes, for example if we add a video player or start measuring which pages people read, we will update this page and ask for your agreement where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address for as long as you want to hear from us. If you unsubscribe, we remove you from the list, and we keep only the minimum record needed to make sure we do not accidentally email you again.
Messages you send us are kept while we need them to help you, and then they are cleared out.
Your choices
These are yours whenever you want them, and asking costs you nothing.
- Leave. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and it works immediately.
- See what we hold. Write to us and we will tell you.
- Fix it. If something is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
- Be deleted. Ask, and we will remove you.
Write to bula@samyandbela.com. We will answer within 30 days and usually a great deal sooner, because there is not much to look up.
If you are in Australia or New Zealand and you are not happy with how we handled your request, you can raise it with your national privacy regulator. We would much rather you told us first and gave us the chance to put it right.
Keeping it safe
We use reputable services, we keep access to the list limited to the people who need it, and the site is served over a secure connection. No system online is completely safe, and we will not pretend otherwise. If anything ever happened to your information, we would tell you.
Changes to this page
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is a significant one, such as opening a shop or adding tracking, we will email the list and tell you plainly rather than hoping you notice.
